Offshore News: June 2009

2.06.2009 Andorra, Liechtenstein and Monaco are removed from the list of “uncooperative tax havens” of the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
The Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) announced that it has removed Andorra, Liechtenstein and Monaco from the list of ‘uncooperative tax havens’.
Andorra intends, as soon as its General Council passes the necessary legislation, to conclude a double tax treaty and a TIEA with France, and other member states, by the end of the year.
Liechtenstein has already signed a TIEA with the U.S., and concluded an anti-fraud agreement with the EU.
Monaco made a similar commitment to the OECD ahead of the G20 London summit in April 2009.

25.06.2009 President and Finance Minister of Switzerland Hans-Rudolf Merz came to Berlin for a meeting of twenty selected ministers from OECD and EU countries, which is taking place at the invitation of German Finance Minister Peer Steinbrück and French Budget Minister Eric Woerth with the purpose to review progress on the implementation of the OECD standards concerning the exchange of information in the matters of taxation. During the meeting, further measures will be discussed concerning the on-going fight against tax evasion.
During the tax conference, President Merz and French Budget Minister Eric Woerth met for talks on a new Double Taxation Agreement (DTA).
